The world lost a great man and mustache last week.
Anthony Ganzler, a firefighter and former serviceman in the US Army 173rd Airborne Division, passed away on Monday, March 17 after suffering a cardiac event while he was off-duty. The firefighter had joined his respective department in 2019, and quickly became known for his dedication to helping others and how much he loved life and making others laugh.
The Fremont Firefighters Association, IAFF Local 1689 that Ganzler belonged to shared this message online:
“Anthony was a lion of a man, with a warm personality, a great sense of humor, a formidable stature, and an often outrageously large mustache. He was a loving husband to Erin, a devoted father to Savannah and Abigail, and a cherished member of our fire family. His warmth and humor made him universally loved by all he worked with and his passing is an immeasurable loss for our organization.”
As you are probably able to gather from that message from the Fremont Firefighters Association, Ganzler leaves behind his wife and his two daughters, which makes the story even more heartbreaking. The only real silver lining in the story is that the fallen firefighter’s sense of humor has brought a lot of joy to those around the world.
When the California Fire Foundation shared a statement about the loss of Anthony Ganzler, they used the most recent station photo that the firefighter had posed for. The news of his death is currently spreading around on the internet, and you’ll see why in the picture below:
“We are saddened to share the loss of Firefighter Anthony K. Ganzler from the Fremont Fire Department and AFF Local 1689. Firefighter Ganzler passed away on Monday, March 17, from a medical emergency.

That’s one hell of a mouth mane right there.
It’s rather moving to know that Ganzler was known for his sense of humor before he passed away, and even in death, he’s been able to bring joy and laughter to the world. Obviously, his loss is immeasurable, especially considering he leaves behind two girls and his wife.
Though I hope there’s some comfort for them knowing that Anthony Ganzler has become somewhat of a household name thanks to his absurdly awesome mustache:
had to look up other pics to see how else that glorious ‘stache looked. rest in peace, king pic.twitter.com/lh4CNqjvBs

They specifically mention his sense of humor so I’ve attributed this mustache to such
