Headed back to late night TV.
Morgan Wallen had quite a journey to his SNL debut back in 2020, when long story short, he was filmed partying (maskless and making out with about a dozen college girls) down in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the week before his scheduled debut on Saturday Night Live during the thick of the COVID outbreak. They gave him the boot for being irresponsible about his pre-show quarantine, but also said he would be invited back in the future.
Two months later, Wallen made his big debut, and of course they made an actually pretty funny sketch about his pre-show shenanigans. Alongside host Jason Bateman, Bowen Yang and Pete Davidson, Morgan takes the opportunity to revisit some of his decision making that night in Tuscaloosa.
Considering a rarely watch SNL, unless a funny sketch pops up on my X, I found this to be pretty good… Morgan’s ability to make fun of himself when he was actually getting a ton of backlash (online, of course) made it that much better:
And he is set to return as the musical guest alongside host and actress Mikey Madison (Better Things, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood) in less than two weeks on March 29th, where he’ll likely play one of his new songs (he’s dropping “Just In Case” tomorrow).
I imagine an album announcement might be coming soon too, considering this kind of gig on SNL is a pretty big deal in terms of publicity. We already know it’s called I’m The Problem, but details on a release date and tracklist are still forthcoming… probably sooner rather than later.
It’s unclear if he’ll be part of a sketch or have any other role in the show other than just singing, but I honestly hope is… there’s just so much material there, and he’s pretty good at it based on what we saw last time around:
Morgan is also gearing up to head out on his 2025 I’m The Problem stadium tour, and you can check out the full list of dates below. Surely, the album will be out before June 20th when it starts, since it’s already done and fans will be dying to hear him play the new tunes live… stay tuned.
