Coming SOON.
Today, Eric Church shared the first teaser of the new song he’s dropping this Thursday, March 20th called “Hands Of Time,” which is part of his forthcoming (unofficially announced) album.
He has released one other single from it so far, the song “Darkest Hour,” which was rushed out last year in the wake of the devastation of Hurricane Helene in his home state of North Carolina:
“I was in the studio for a project next year. Kinda doing what we always do, which is trying to be different and challenge myself creatively. Playing with an orchestra and symphony and choir, doing some really interesting stuff.”
If you’ve listened to “Darkest Hour,” you hear that orchestra and choir on the soulful ballad, which has almost a Motown or southern gospel feel to it. And we’ve also gotten more tastes of that sound from Church recently with his controversial performance at Stagecoach Festival, which featured a gospel choir and an acoustic performance that upset some in the crowd.
While this is obviously only a short part of “Hands Of Time,” it’s seemingly a little more in line with some of his other more decidedly country, definitely rock-influenced music, and kind of reminded me of “Heart Of The Night” from his most recent studio album, Heart & Soul that came out several years ago.
He shared the teaser with part of the lyrics as the caption:
“We ain’t as young as we used to be…”
It’s been too long since we’ve anticipated a whole new album rollout from Mr. Church, and I can’t wait for what’s coming. Check out the song here:
Fans in the comments seemed to really enjoy it already, too, which is always a good sign because Eric has some hardcore fans and they don’t hold back:
“Oooooooo this has that ‘Carolina’ album feel.”
“This sounds great can’t wait to hear it in full.”
“Here for it.”
“Cannot wait!”
“Oh he is so back.”
“Don’t even need to hear the rest… it’s a banger.”
“Bring it on! Can’t wait for the entire ALBUM!”
“Sounds so good!”
“Love it!”
“All the anti horn fans just ate crow.”
“ERIC F*****G CHURCH.”
“Ughhh! Cannot wait for more!”
“OH WE ARE SO BACK.”
“Replaying this teaser an abnormal amount of times.”
“Can’t wait for this whole album to drop!”
“You are killing me already!!”
Just a couple more days until we get to hear the full song… and I can’t wait.
Until then, turn it up:
“Darkest Hour”
