Zach Top and his band have checked off a significant milestone on their list. Playing their first stadium show.
Last night, Zach Top took to the center of the iconic star stage at RodeoHouston for his first-ever stadium show. Houston’s NRG Stadium was packed to the brim with rodeo goers eager to see a live performance from the Washington native who is reviving the classic sound of ’90s country.
Given that Top has admitted he overestimated the demand for tickets on his Cold Beer & Country Music Tour, I am sure many attendees took his RodeoHouston performance a chance to see Top live, verses going for the rodeo events. While the stadium was screaming out the words to his hits like “I Never Lie” and “Bad Luck,” Top and his band were basking in the moment, in awe they were asked to play on such a massive stage.
“Thank you all so much for coming out and supporting the great sport of rodeo and for loving country music. We are so glad to see you here and thank you for making us feel welcome.
This is by far in a way the biggest show we’ve ever played. I’ll tell you what, two years ago, we played in a little town called Dothan, Alabama, and I sold twelve tickets to our show. And in two years, it looks like this now? You gotta be kidding me?!”
ZT and his band were grateful for the opportunity to play RodeoHouston, and the gratitude was palpable, whether you were in the room or watching clips on social media.

While ZT’s performance was one for the books, the “Use Me” singer is now going viral for a hilarious moment that happened once he left the stage.
After his performance, ZT got on horseback to ride a “victory lap” around the arena, waving at fans as he rode past them. Talk about a cowboy who can walk the walk and talk the talk, right?

Well, ZT was too caught up in the moment and was not paying attention to where his noble steed was headed, nearly taking out one of the venue’s security guards in the arena dirt. Top was too busy tipping his hat to the crowd to notice the woman standing below him, but thankfully, she took a quick step forward, getting out of the way.
Boy, that would’ve been a buzz kill for the night had ZT run over this security guard.

One user commented on the original video of the moment, noting that it would’ve been a bad wreck if the horse hadn’t helped him out.
“The horse saved his a**. He was the only one paying attention.”
I will say, though, ZT doesn’t look too bad in a saddle. He’s noted before that even though he grew up on a farm, he was not great with a rope in his hand, which led to him to pursue something outside of ranching. I can’t blame ZT for getting caught up in the moment, this was a huge career milestone for him. And at the same time, it’s pretty tough to run someone over with a horse. Not saying it’s impossible, but anyone who has ever been on one knows that a horse will generally go around whatever is standing in the way, and they’re quite nimble for such big, powerful animals. They can swerve around a person or a fence post pretty easily without breaking much of a stride. Even the lady on the ground didn’t seem too concerned.
No harm, no foul.
Check out some clips from the night while you’re here.
