Eric Church’s Nashville Bar, Chief’s, Debuts New Drink Called “The Chair” To Commemorate Morgan Wallen Incident

I mean, just brilliant marketing.

Of course, I think we all know about “the chair” incident that occurred at Eric Church’s downtown Nashville bar Chief’s last year, where Morgan Wallen was arrested and charged with three counts of felony reckless endangerment and one count of disorderly conduct after throwing a chair off the roof of the building. He pled guilty to misdemeanor reckless endangerment in Davidson County court in December of last year, bringing to an end a legal saga that started in April of 2024.

The chair reportedly landed near two Nashville police officers who were standing on the sidewalk below, and Morgan was pointed out by patrons on the rooftop as the one who threw it. It was then confirmed by surveillance video, and Judge Cynthia Chappell ultimately sentenced the singer to 11 months and 29 days in jail on each count, with all but seven days suspended. Those seven days are to be served in a DUI education center. The remainder of his sentence will be served on supervised probation, and will be served consecutively for a total of two years on probation.

The plea agreement is subject to judicial diversion, which means that Morgan will be able to petition the court to have his record expunged if he successfully completes probation.

Obviously, Morgan was very lucky that it didn’t end much worse and that no one got hurt, and at the time it happened, Chief’s posted a sign on the front of their building that read:

“Our Pigs Fly, Our Chairs Don’t”

They also nailed the rooftop chairs down so that no one else would get any ideas, or for some reason try to emulate Morgan (drunk people on Broadway can be really dumb), but in general, it seems like they’d moved on from it all.

But just this week, they debuted a new drink in honor of Morgan (that sounds kinda weird considering what happened, but I don’t know how else to put it… does commemorate sound any better?) called “The Chair,” which features a tiny decorative chair as garnish and obvious nod to the whole chair fiasco.

It’s made with raspberry vodka, raspberry liqueur, lemonade and a splash of soda, and a fan on TikTok shared footage of getting one, and yes, it’s completely real and you can order one yourself next time you’re in Nashville. Like I said, it’s brilliant marketing, but also something we can only laugh at considering no one got injured or worse.

Before making the trip to Chief’s for “The Chair”, stock up on Liquid I.V. to keep you ready to rock and roll the next day, because those Nashville hangovers are brutal…
