Laying down a new one at CRS.

Country music is alive and well right now as the Country Radio Seminar (CRS) is taking place. CRS, which is happening in Nashville, brings together radio people, industry professionals, and many artists to mix and mingle over several days. Many artists hit the stage to perform during the seminar, bringing out fan favorites or debuting new singles.

Eric Church has already debuted a new one during the seminar called “Johnny,” a song he wrote the day after the Nashville Covenant School shooting. The powerful single was inspired by Charlie Daniels’ “The Devil Went Down To Georgia,” and Church was left feeling like the devil wasn’t just in Georgia after the horrific events of that day… the devil was everywhere.

Needless to say, Church left the crowd in awe after debuting that one.

But it’s not only Eric Church who is sharing unreleased gems. Parker McCollum also shared a new track titled “Hope That I’m Enough.” The raw track is seemingly inspired by his wife and, now, perhaps found new meaning with his young son, Major. As McCollum adjusts to his new role as a dad, that comes with a lot of life changes. Your schedule changes, marriage changes, priorities change, and all of those life adjustments can sometimes make one feel insecure.

McCollum’s vulnerable lyrics describe his hope that he’s enough in his marriage and his desire not to let their love fade as they enter this new chapter of life.

“Sunlight through the window
You like sleepin’ in
I just lay a-waiting
Sunlight to leave again
Love that I am who you love

You’ll always be plenty
I just hope that I’m enough…”

Although McCollum has been playing this song for quite some time now, first seeing videos of it from 2022 acoustic sets, the lyrics might have shifted meaning for McCollum over the years. First, he’s worried about losing a girl he’s really into, and now those insecurities are about losing the love of his life and the mother of his child.

No matter what the lyrics are pointing to, they strike a deep chord. McCollum’s powerful delivery of the lyrics at CRS packs a punch.

Mr. McCollum, we’d love for you to share a studio cut of this one sooner rather than later. It rips.
