The King is BACK.
This morning, George Strait announced a run of shows with the great Chris Stapleton for this summer, where they’ll hit stadiums in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Foxborough and Inglewood, California at SoFi Stadium.
Of course, they did a similar limited run last summer, and I was lucky enough to attend their show in Charlotte… truly life changing. I still think about it at least once a week.
While on that 2024 run, Strait actually set the record for the largest single ticketed concert in U.S. History, and a new record for Texas A&M Kyle Field, for a single event with 110,905 fans in attendance for George Strait. The record-breaking performance was one of only 10 live shows from Strait last year, which also included a stop at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for his 37th Strait to Vegas residency show.
This time, they’re bringing Parker McCollum along to open, and Little Big Town will open just the west coast show.
While he retired from traditional touring years ago, Strait says there’s a pull to get back out on the road even when he tries to slow down and really take a step back:
“I keep trying to slow down a bit but you keep calling me back. Please don’t ever stop. I still love it just as much as I always have. Thank you for an amazing year last year and I can’t wait to see you for a few more again this year.
Chris will be back and glad to have Little Big Town with us in LA. For the other cities, we’ve added Parker M. to the show which will be outstanding. Can’t wait to see you!!”
I can’t recommend highly enough getting to one of these shows, because it’s really a one-of-a-kind lineup and worth every penny. He’s the King for a reason, and especially if you’ve never seen him before, this is the perfect time and would make an incredible summer trip if you don’t live near these places they’re playing. Check out Vivid Seats when tickets are available, they’re the only platform that gives you free tickets just for going to concerts. Pretty sweet deal, right?
In addition to playing those aforementioned 10 stadium concerts last year, Strait released a new album called Cowboys And Dreamers, which featured Stapleton on a song called “Honky Tonk Hall of Fame.” He was also honored with the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 CMA Awards, which is a prestigious honor that goes to an iconic artist as one of the highest degrees of recognition in country music.
