Cuttin’ loose in NOLA.
New Orleans is buzzing ahead of the kickoff for Super Bowl LIX. Over the last week, the city has been busy with many events, such as the NFL Honors, Chiefs and Eagles fans roaming around town, getting themselves in the mood to cheer on their team to victory, and many musical events.
Post Malone teamed up with Bud Light for a “Bud Light Backyard” concert ahead of the big game. Malone and Bud Light have a long-standing partnership as the rapper turned country star is frequently seen on stage sipping the cold domestic and has teamed up with them ahead of the Super Bowl. The beer brand sponsored his Nashville album preview party, and Malone even starred in their epic “Big Men On The Cul-De-Sac” Super Bowl commercial with Shane Gillis.
So naturally, Bud Light saw a perfect opportunity to host a concert with the star and hype up the crowd before the game.
Post Malone laid down one helluva set performing his country hits along with intertwining hits from earlier in his career into his set for a good mix of music that appealed to all of his fans in the audience.

One crowd member in particular who was having the time of his life was Dallas Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith.
Emmitt Smith was an integral tight end on the Cowboys for twelve of his fifteen NFL seasons. Smith, who was named the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player in 1993, holds the record for career rushing yards, and rushing touchdowns with 164, along with leading the record number of postseason rushing yards, and touchdowns.
As a member of the Cowboys’ legendary trio “The Triplets,” composed of himself, quarterback Troy Aikman, and wide receiver Michael Irvin, the NFL Hall of Famer is beyond deserving of enjoying a Super Bowl weekend after carrying his team to three wins during his career.
Given that many NFL legends return to the Super Bowl each year, to spot him in the crowd during Post Malone’s show might not have been surprising to those who frequent the championship game. However, to see him so engulfed in the music was a treat. Smith was spotted on a riser with two drinks in hand, rocking out as Malone performed “Congratulations.” Emmitt was getting into the song, clearly mouthing each lyric and hyping up other fans around him as he danced to the music.
“My momma called, seen you on TV, sonSaid shit done changed ever since we was onI dreamed it all ever since I was youngThey said I wouldn’t be nothingNow they always say congratulations…”
Big Posty fan, eh?
Maybe the lyrics of “Congratulations” hit a little harder to the Florida native. I’m sure he dreamed of being an NFL player like many other football-crazed kids do, but he was one of the select few who turned those dreams into a reality and became a legend in the league.
