Driver Captures Wild Video Of Moose Smashing Right Into The Windshield Of Their Parked Vehicle

That was no accident.

I don’t know what was going through the mind of this moose calf as it rocketed right towards a parked car, but I can’t imagine the head ache that must have come after this video was taken. And I’m surprised that the damage wasn’t worse considering how large even younger moose (always want to say “meese” there) can be.

Bull moose can weigh up to 1,500 pounds and stand over six feet tall at the shoulder. Cow moose (females), on the other hand, usually weigh around 1,000 pounds and stand over five feet tall at the shoulder. These massive creatures are the largest members of the deer family and the second largest animal to roam North America.

They also apparently don’t understand how cars work. That could be said for most animals I suppose, but the moose in this video really showcased that they have no accident avoidance instinct whatsoever. I don’t want to group all moose in this category, but this young bull isn’t helping the brand, if you catch my drift.

A man is simply sitting in his parked car, minding his own business with the headlights at full power, as he watches a wild moose get closer and closer. At one point, the animal starts sprinting right at the front of the vehicle. If it was wanting to play a classic game of chicken, I guess you could say that it won.

The truth is, moose actually have very poor eyesight, and in the snow, at night, you can imagine how that would be even further impaired. Moose, especially female “cows” with young calves around, will often charge whenever they feel threatened and ask questions later. It’s more of a “rather be safe than sorry” kind of approach… and given their massive size, it makes sense.

The moose calf comes crashing right into the front of the car, flopping up onto the hood and smacking the windshield before sliding off towards the driver’s side door and destroying the side mirror. It lands with a thud on the packed snow on the road, and then regains its footing and runs off – seemingly unharmed. Just goes to show you that moose are tough as nails… but might not be the brightest when it comes to navigating around parked cars.

“I thought it would run past the car but…”

What a wild video.

If you watched that and the first thing that came to mind was, “I wonder what the insurance claim looked like,” you aren’t alone. Fortunately, they had a video to prove their claim, so that probably helped out in the pesky, taxing insurance claim process. And that’s all that people were talking about in the comment section below the viral video:

“I’ve heard of this scam. He’s going to say you hit him and now he has back problems.”

“I want a relationship as strong as that windshield.”

“Never run into the light.”

“Good thing that was caught on camera because the insurance company would have never believed them.”

“Blinded by the light I suppose.”

“Insurance scammers are getting out of hand.”
