Giving us a taste of what’s to come.
Muscadine Bloodline is dropping their first single of 2025 and the first single of what’s projected to be a standout year for the Alabama duo. Leading into the new year, Muscadine Bloodline reflected on 2024, noting how special it was. They went on tour with Post Malone, released a record, The Coastal Plain, sold out many shows, and gained new fans, captivating them with their thick twangs and unapologetically southern sound. They also landed at #3 on the Whiskey Riff Top 40 Country Albums Of 2024 list.
While they loved the milestone they hit in 2024, they hope 2025 will be their biggest year yet.
“God willing, 2025 is gunna be our biggest year yet. Our biggest headlining tour to start the year, a new record soon, some big festivals this summer, the biggest tour we’ve been a part of in the fall, and another record at the end of the year. (TWO RECORDS IN ONE YEAR???…..YES)”
Two albums in one year? SIGN. ME. UP.
Muscadine Bloodline announced a new single, slated for a January 10th release, to kick off this projected record-breaking year. When they announced the single, they teased that it featured another country artist, and fans were quick to piece together their clues, convinced it would be Josh Meloy.
“Next Friday the 10th,
Putting out a new song,
And sometimes, the feature
leaves the porchlight on.”
Fans were right on the money with their guess, with Muscadine Bloodline confirming not long after that Josh Meloy is indeed the featured artist on the new single. Leading up to the release of the single, Muscadine and Meloy shared an acoustic version of the track “Ain’t For Sale.”
If the acoustic version of the single sounds this good, oh man, I can’t wait to hear the studio version.
Gary and Charlie open the track, laying down a gothic southern melody, setting the tone for the pleading gospel-inspired track. Meloy opens up the lyrics of a man weighing his options of giving into temptation or staying on the straight and narrow path, making decisions that keep him an honest man. As he weighs his options, he feels like the Devil is tempting him and banishes the spirit, noting that his soul isn’t for sale.
“It’s 3 am, I ain’t sleeping again
Pleading with God To fight off what I can’t fend
Oh, I’ll be damned if that ole devil waiting for me for to fail
This soul of mine it ain’t for sale
Dollar signs and dotted lines
Is it worth losing that
Peace of mind for the fancy things are they, what they seem
When you can’t cut those puppet strings is it really oughta how be?”
The lyrics of this track cut you to your core, and these three men sound incredible together. Muscadine Bloodline’s harmonies never miss, and the addition of Meloy takes the vocals to the next level. The acoustic take of this single rips, and I am beyond excited to hear the studio cut in a few short days.
