Words to live by.

Seeing your daughter grow up in front of your eyes is every father’s worst nightmare. They go from your innocent little girl to being grown with their own friends, maybe a boyfriend, and next thing you know, they are starting a family of their own. But no matter what phase of life kids are in, fathers will always view you as their little girl.

As daughters grow up, fathers hope they’ve helped raise decent human beings and, most importantly, taught them how to choose a loving partner.

This brings us to the first installment of fatherly advice for 2025: Duck Blind Dating Advice.

A father is going viral for a few video clips he’s shared of himself and his little girl in the duck blind. Some of the clips are tender father-daughter moments in which he teaches her the ways of the land and the rules of duck hunting. It was his daughter Charlie’s first duck hunt. Although she might not have killed any ducks, the young girl was happy to be in the blind with her dad.

While ducks were the primary focus of the outing, it also was the perfect time for this dad to instill some fatherly wisdom when things were slow. Naturally, he needed to warn his daughter about the dangers of dating.

“One of these days, when you’re about 35 or 40, you’re going to start liking boys.”

The dad starts with his advice. Thankfully, his daughter responded with the thing all dads love to hear before any advice is given.

“I hate boys.”

HA. The father continues…

“I’m glad you do now. That’s why Daddy gets you what you want.

Here’s the deal: when you start liking boys and going on dates, they are going to want to pick you up in a car and take your places. And one day, you’re going to be like, ‘Daddy, I like this old boy, and he says he duck hunts.’ And you’re going to say, ‘Can he come duck hunt with us?’

And I’m going to say, ‘Baby, he can duck hunt anywhere in the world except with me.'”

Some other men in the bind begin giggling at the statement, but can you blame the father for wanting to keep the blind as designated father-daughter time?

His daughter, who was onboard with this advice at first, hilariously responds to him:

“That’s stupid.”

Let’s hope this kid falls in love with a decent waterfowl hunter years down the road. No one wants to be in a blind with someone who doesn’t know what they are doing.

This advice is taking an early lead for best dad advice of the year.
