Waiting on that ring.

Lainey Wilson is at the top of her game right now, and wrapped up a massively successful 2024 performing on New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash a couple days ago.

The Louisiana native has made a name for herself through many years of hard work, and she’s been dating her boyfriend Devlin “Duck” Hodges for a while now too, who is a former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback.

Hodges was a four-year starter at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama before being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Steelers in 2019. He was named the starter during the 2019 season when Mason Rudolph went down with an injury, going 3-3 as a starting quarterback before being waived by the Steelers and signed to the practice squad prior to the 2020 season.

With her 2024 studio album Whirlwind, Lainey penned a love song about Duck called “4X4XU,” which is a rare glimpse into her true love for him and their relationship in general. Lainey has said several times before that before Duck, she never wrote love songs because she didn’t have anyone she really wanted to write them about, and it’s exciting that she seems to have finally found someone who was worth waiting for.

Lainey comes across as so genuine and down to earth, and she’s worked extremely hard to get where she is, so I think a lot of us, but especially young women and women in general, look up to her and the way she’s done it all with so much grace and class.

I don’t typically like to comment on celebrity relationships, because honestly I don’t really care, but Lainey has always been one of my favorites and I hope her and Duck can make it last. She seems really in love with him and deserves the best, and in an interview with Bunnie XO (podcaster and wife of Jelly Roll) ahead of her New Year’s Eve performance, Lainey opened up about her 2025 relationship goals with Duck.

Bunnie asked her about a ring, and Lainey joked that she “might have to propose to him” because she’s just waiting on a proposal from her longtime boyfriend:

“No pressure, brother. No pressure. I might have to propose to him. We waiting.”

Sounds to me like she’s more than ready to say yes… which should take a lot of pressure off for Duck.

Lainey also talked about how getting inducted into the Grand Ole Opry was one of the highlights of her year:

“I think it was getting inducted into the Grand Ole Opry. I feel like I’m right where I’m supposed to be. Just so many things to celebrate. So if 2025 is anything like 2024, it’s gonna be another hell of a ride.”

Check it out:

And we already know Lainey wants a big ‘ol rock when it comes to her dream ring, so that should make ring shopping a whole lot easier, too.
