Taking one down.
It’s about time Riley Green gets added to the list of country music artists who have bagged big bucks this year. But given his busy tour schedule, it took him a little longer to have the time off to make his way out to the tree stand.
Riley Green is one of the country artists who is open about being an avid hunter and often posts about his excursions, just like Koe Wetzel, Chase Rice, and many others. Chase Rice recently took down a well-fed buck during the CMA Awards and posted his prized buck.
“And the CMA award for “biggest buck of the night cause all the other country singers were frolicking around in Nashville” goes to…”
However, Riley Green’s recent post might show up Chase Rice’s buck—not that it’s a competition, but…
Riley Green is done touring for the year, so he’s spending his time doing what he loves: hunting. He has opened up about owning a piece of hunting land in Kansas and often likes to spend his off-time there. While his time off might look different than someone with a traditional 9 to 5, he’s made sure his schedule was clear before the end of bowhunting season so he could try to tag out.
Since the archery season ends on December 31st in Kansas, Riley Green took down this buck with his bow and arrow just in time.
“First buck off my new farm in Kansas, and he was a good one. It took a bunch of hours sittin’ in a tree with a bow, but he finally slipped up. Damn, I love it out here.”
What a beaut! From Riley Green’s caption, it sounds like this buck set him up for a perfect shot, and he was down quickly.
Regardless, Green bagged a beauty up in the Sunflower State. Of course, Kansas is a one of the premiere whitetail states in the whole country, boasting big bucks, a relatively long season, and over a 1 million acres of public hunting land. Of course, Riley now has his own hunting property up there, but for those looking to get into the action, make the trip to Kansas if you get the chance… you won’t regret it.
Check out a few of the comments left on the post. His buddy, Koe Wetzel, kicked things off, leaving:
“Beast.”
Under the picture.
“That’s a bruiser right there!”
“Where exactly in Kansas? Asking for a friend.”
“God has favorites.”
“Any fellers in the comments with similar looks & hobbies holler at me.”
This comment left by a female fan left me with a side stitch from laughter.
“Dude, this is like your third one this year… my girl is on the app. Take a month off.”
This fan was very correct, as Riley Green has had quite some luck from the stand this year. This Kansas buck is the third hoss he’s shared on his Instagram, and he’s taken down this year alone.
This also shows Green’s luck throughout the last few years. Some hunters wait for years to get a buck this big, but it feels like Riley Green has been bagging big boys and big boys only since 2022. In 2022, he took down his largest buck at the time, scoring a buck in full velvet in Kentucky. The stunning animal scored a 160.
“Laid down my biggest Kentucky deer yet last night and in full velvet. Been hunting this farm since 2015 and finally broke 160.”
I’d be interested to see what the bucks Green has taken down this year compared to this Kentucky buck.
Keep up the work, Duckman…or should we change it to Buckman?
