“I Was Blown Away” – Koe Wetzel Tells The Wild Story Of How An HVAC Worker Stole His Rolex Watches, Cologne, Slippers & More

Jody Domingue

Can’t trust anybody.

Koe Wetzel stopped by The Bobby Bones Show today, and he talked about his current mainstream success, as well as some of the grandma’s who have been showing up tot his concerts for songs like “High Road” and “Sweet Dreams,” only to hear a lot of “F-bombs” and some of the older, much more raunchy music he made a name with:

“Honestly, yeah. But they come to hear ‘High Road,’ and ‘Sweet Dreams,’ and stuff off the new record, and we have our rowdy show with all the older stuff. A lot of F-bombs and their eyes are about this big around and they’re like, ‘What did we get ourselves into?’

They’re not like, biker grandma’s, you know, that would flash us, it’s like old nice petite ladies and they’re just kinda like, ‘Oh, sh*t, should we leave? Should we stay here?'”

He also told a wild story about getting some pricy items stolen from his house…

Koe explained that he has a Rolex collection, and he always takes a few out on the road, but knows where they all are at home and keeps them in a specific place in his room. He

“So I’m putting my watches in, I’m like, hm, I’m missing one or two. And I’ve always got ’em getting rewound, or cleaned, it’s not abnormal for me to have them gone somewhere. Anyway, I’m calling everybody, I’m like, ‘Hey, watch is gone. Did I give you a watch to take to somebody?’ They’re like ‘No, I don’t know what you’re talking about.’

So I start freaking out, I start calling everybody, no one can figure out where they’re at. As I’m on the phone with my manager, because he usually takes them and gets them cleaned, I notice another watch is missing. I’m like, what in the hell is going on? So then I start doing a clean sweep of the house, I had X amount of money gone, just little stuff, I’m like man, this is weird.

So I put on Instagram or Twitter or whatever like, I can’t stand a thief. While that’s going on, there’s so many things going through your head. I have get togethers at the house, but nobody really goes to my room… so it’s just, all these things are going through your head.”

The next day, the HVAC company that had been there to install digital thermostats called, saying they just had to fire an employee for stealing.

They had a lot of Koe’s items, including just one of the Rolex’s, as well as Gucci sunglasses, designer slippers and a few other expensive items:

“The guy called me, he’s like, ‘Hey, we fired a guy the other day and we had as suspicion that he’s been stealing stuff.’ And we were like, ‘It wouldn’t be a couple Rolexes and some cash, right?’

He goes, ‘Well, we’ve got one of the Rolexes, the other one we’re working on getting. We don’t have the cash, but we’ve got cologne, some Gucci glasses, some slippers.’ So this dude just went in and ransacked my whole bedroom, bro. How does a guy walk out with all this stuff?”

It’s hard to imagine this guy just carrying all this stuff out to the truck without someone noticing, especially the people he works with, but also whoever was at Koe’s house that day to let them in (I’m assuming someone else was there to oversee it since Koe was out of town at the time).

But the guy didn’t stop there… he also went through Koe’s liquor cabinet, taking expensive bottles of that. Eventually, the police tracked everything down but the cash, and it turns out the thief had taken a one-of-a-kind Rolex to a local pawn shop and sold it for just $1200.

That’s a lot for a normal watch to most of us, but a regular Rolex runs minimum of around $5,000, so I can only imagine how much a custom, one of one Rolex would cost tens or even hundreds of thousands depending on what you have done.

Koe said he was “blown away” by the ordeal, and couldn’t imagine how they guy just carried all these items from his house while on a job (which is the part I still don’t understand, but I digress)…

“And then he goes through my liquor cabinet, stole like two or three bottles of really nice liquor too. So I’m just trying to picture this dude leaving my house carrying all this, ‘cuz he was with two other dudes.

It was mind blowing, I finally talked to the cops, got everything back… I got most of it back, I never got my cash back but he pawned one of the Rolexes… it’s like a one of one, custom Rolex and he pawned it and I think he got like $1,200 for it. I was blown away.”

I’m glad Koe got pretty much everything back (especially the fancy watches), and the guy who stole it all is a loser, but honestly, that sucks for whoever thought they were getting the deal of the century on a $1,200 one-of-a-kind Rolex only to find out it was stolen and he couldn’t keep it…

You can watch Koe tell the story here, it’s pretty insane:
