Hitting the road hard in 2025 – and this one will be a can’t-miss tour.

Over the last 25 years, Jason Boland & The Stragglers have captivated audiences as one of the leading bands from the Oklahoma and Texas country music movement. The band, formed in 1998 in Oklahoma, has since moved its home base to Texas and continues to put out projects highlighting the roots of their red dirt sound while intertwining prolific storytelling with their incredible melodies.

With their debut record, Pearl Snaps, laying the foundation of the band becoming an integral part of the red dirt movement, over their quarter-century career, they have shifted their sound to keep that foundation while incorporating elements of soft rock, blues, and bluegrass.

In 2018, Boland explained to Cowboys & Indians Magazine how their songwriting and sound have evolved:

“Like with everything in life, you gain perspective — that’s one of the biggest things. You just have more to write about, really.

The other thing, as a band, just because we grew out of the garage scene that was going on in the late ’90s in Tornado Alley, I think we’ve really evolved musically as a band in ways that I’m completely happy with. I can still listen to the old stuff and hear it nostalgically.

But as far as music that I would listen to today, I think now we’re a lot closer to a band that I’ve always heard.”

That perspective and growth is precisely what you will find on their most recent record, The Light Saw Me.

The sci-fi concept album produced by the legendary Shooter Jennings follows a cowboy living in Texas in the 1890s who is abducted by aliens and ends up in Texas in the 1990s. Each song on the record takes you through a chapter of that journey, and the product is a multi-layered record that gives you a new perspective with each listen.

However, making groundbreaking albums is only part of the equation to having a career as long and as successful as Jason Boland & the Stragglers. You have to put on an incredible live show, and these guys are some of the best in the business when it comes to that.

And in 2025, they’re getting back to business and will spend a good part of the year on the road, as the famed red dirt band heads out on their The Last Kings Of Babylon Tour.

They perfectly curate each setlist to fit their crowd. When you attend a Jason Boland show, you will get a mix of your favorite oldies, new tracks, and a few unreleased ditties. Boland’s deep twangs sound just as good live, maybe even better. If you need proof, fire up their Live From Cain’s Ballroom record.

These living legends should be on your concert bucket list, and The Last Kings Of Babylon Tour is a perfect chance to check them off.
