From all of us here at Whiskey Riff, we’d like to thank every veteran out there who served to protect this great country.
Today is Veteran’s Day – a day where we can all take a moment to think about how fortunate we are to have others fight for our freedoms. The servicemen and servicewomen that serve for the United States are true heroes and deserve to be recognized today – and every other day.
Country music star Cody Johnson knows that, which is why he put together a message for all the veterans and sent it out on social media earlier today.
In his patented cowboy hat, Johnson stood tall and provided a touching tribute to all of the veterans out there, saying:
“In honor of Veterans Day, I’ve been asked to give a salute to our veterans. This is something that comes really easy to me. If anyone’s ever been to one of my live shows, you know that we stop our show every night and we salute our veterans. The men and women that have sacrificed their lives for our country are very special to me and my family.
Without you, without your sacrifice daily, we wouldn’t have the freedom to vote for who we want, to pray to who we want, to love who we want to love. All of those freedoms that a lot of people take for granted, we know you died for. You’ve sacrificed your life for and you’ve put in the time for. I personally would like to say thank you from the Johnson family, from the bottom of our hearts, for doing what you do.”
Cody Johnson… a class act.
The “By Your Grace” singer went on to say that he was asked to single out one veteran that he knew personally to shine a light on them, but CoJo didn’t feel right doing that. So he instead addressed every veteran that he’s crossed paths with and heard from and thanked them all for their service:
“I’ve been asked to salute a veteran that I know personally. All you guys and girls that know me out there, if you’re watching this, this is for you. I’m not just gonna pick one of you because there’s too many. So many stories have come my way about men and women that have lost limbs, and lost loved ones. And I would like to say thank you to all of your for your sacrifice.”

Awesome stuff right there, and Cody Johnson nailed it right on the head with that entire message. We are all indebted to those who sacrifice their lives for our freedoms. One day in November really isn’t enough to honor those who have died for our country.
That’s why – as Johnson mentioned in his message – CoJo always takes time out of his concerts to recognize veterans that are in attendance. The least we can do as regular citizens to give back is to give thanks to those who served, as the country music singer encourages others to do at his concerts.
Like this moment Johnson’s Dayton, Ohio concert back in 2023:
