That’s one tough turtle.
I’ve got just as many questions as you do, and trust me, I’m going to do everything in my power to answer them to the best of my ability. It’s not everyday that a turtle goes through someone’s windshield, and of course this happened in the crazy state of Florida.
The video below shows everything that went down post-turtle-induced-windshield breaking. It would have been wild to have some footage of the incident as it happened, but we’ll unfortunately have to just settle for the aftermath footage.
A TikTok user by the name Lori Hall-Allen uploaded the edited clips without a caption, though they did add some hashtags that included “Mario Kart,” “Ninja Turtles,” Windshield Repair,” and “Sh*t You Can’t Make Up.” If you ask me, all of those sound very relevant to the situation this Florida driver found herself in.
From the looks of it, the woman was just driving down the road, minding her own business when the turtle came flying through the front glass of vehicle, shattering it almost completely. How did the turtle get air born in order to crash into the windshield? Well, one would guess that another car initially hit the turtle, and that somehow projected it up into the air and through this driver’s windshield.
The scary part is that it came through the glass right in front of the driver’s side. That’s some real Final Destination stuff, though thankfully it’s believed that the driver didn’t sustain any injuries. All they got instead was a strange call with their car insurance provider, a sudden need to replace their windshield, and a now viral video.
And crazy enough, it looks like the turtle ended up being okay too. The hard shell must have taken much of the blow, because later on in the clip when police officers and what appears to be an animal control/wildlife official showed up to the scene, they pulled the turtle out of the glass and its little legs and head were still moving just fine.
Upon initial inspection, the turtle looked to be virtually unscathed. And if it did somehow manage to not sustain any injuries, I can assure you that the creature won’t ever forget the day that it went soaring through the air and crashed through glass like an action movie star.

I simply don’t understand how that turtle made it out alive.
Clearly a turtle shell (or at least this specific turtle’s shell) is one of the toughest things in the universe. It took the impact of a car crash like a champ. Honestly, it seems like those on social media that came across the video were more shocked than the turtle was about it all:
“Poor guy has got to be shell shocked.”
“‘Hello insurance? Yes, hi, I just got hit by a turtle.'”
“The dash camera footage of this would have been legendary.”
“Turtle is like, “What man? I’m just as shocked as you are.'”
“What in the Mario Kart is happening?”
