Though Zach Top is a rising star in country music, he prefers to keep a low profile.
That might be a little harder to do if he were to win the 2024 CMA Award for New Artist of the Year, which he’s been nominated for alongside Megan Moroney, Shaboozey, Nate Smith, Mitchell Tenpenny, and Bailey Zimmerman. However, considering he’s not super plugged in on social media like many other artists, there’s a chance he could still have some resemblance of normalcy.
Though not being online does come with some downsides. Zach explained that to Fox News Digital that he only found out he was nominated when someone that had social media saw the CMA post about the nominations reached out to him:
“I’m not on socials or anything, and, so, somebody just texted me, ‘congratulations.” And then I didn’t know why. So, I texted back, and I was like, ‘Thanks. For what?’ And they they sent me the screenshot then off Instagram where they’d seen I was on the nominations. So I was like, ‘Thanks. That’s pretty cool.'”
Yeah… I’d say that’s pretty cool.
Another reason why Zach probably didn’t hear about his nomination initially is because he’s been so busy as of late. He released his debut album Cold Beer & Country Music back in April, and he’s currently touring with Lainey Wilson on her Country’s Cool Again Tour. He’s even announced his own headlining tour for 2025.
He’s admittedly enjoying the success, and that his music is connecting to fans, but he did concede that the schedule is a lot to get used to:
“Now, I never wake up in the same town. I wake up somewhere else. I’ve got to figure out where I am the next morning. So, there’s a lot of changes for sure, and I’m grateful for a lot of them…
All I do is sit around on this bus and wait to play music, it seems like now. I try and get outside as much as I can, but it’s a lot more to, you know, go play golf or go for a hike or something. It seems more like a vacation to get outside than it was.”
Something makes me think that his schedule will only get busier if he’s able to bring home the CMA Award for New Artist of the Year. Top should have known that when you singlehandedly bring back the 90’s country sound, you are going to be in high demand…
