She got 45’s attention.
Last month, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Brittany Mahomes found herself at the center of an internet firestorm after…liking an Instagram post from Donald Trump.
Well that didn’t sit well with Taylor Swift fans.
(Yeah, the whole “controversy” is as stupid as it sounds).
Of course Swift is a Democrat who endorsed Joe Biden in 2020, and it was even been rumored that she would be appearing at the DNC to endorse Kamala Harris (though that ended up not being true).
But obviously Swift’s fans are, for the most part, not Trump supporters – so when they saw that Brittany liked the GOP nominee’s post, they weren’t happy and began calling for Taylor to dump her friend:

while we’re at it i always thought it was ridiculous that brittany mahomes was hailed as some wildly accomplished girlboss when she’s quite literally just a girl who lucked out in life. her hs bf turned out to be super talented & anything she has accomplished is due to his money

Well apparently Brittany saw the comments, but didn’t sound too worried about them in a message on her Instagram story telling her “haters” that, basically, they need to grow up:
On her Instagram story this afternoon, Mahomes posted a message to her “haters,” basically them they need to grow up:
“I mean honestly, to be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood. There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well.”
And when Trump supporters began commenting on her Instagram post expressing their support for both Brittany and the former president, the quarterback’s wife appeared to double down on her endorsement of Trump, liking several “Trump 2024” comments:

Brittany also liked a comment from someone who said they were glad that she wasn’t backing down, and recently she also shared a quote on her Instagram story that many took as a comment on the whole situation:
“Contrary to the tone of the world today… You can disagree with someone, and still love them. You can have differing views, and still be kind.”
And during a recent podcast appearance, the quarterback’s wife revealed that it was her husband who helped her get past caring what others think about her:

Well apparently Trump was impressed with Brittany for refusing to back down from the angry mob, and today the former president took to Truth Social to thank her for her support:
“I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Country.
With Crime and Illegal Immigration totally out of control, INFLATION Ravaging all Americans, and a World that is laughing at the stupidity of our hapless “leaders,” it is nice to see someone who loves our Country, and wants to save it from DOOM. What a great couple – See you both at the Super Bowl!”

Of course Brittany hasn’t really spoken publicly about her support for Trump other than the Instagram likes, but now that she has the GOP nominee’s attention, I guess we’ll have to wait and see whether she has anything to say on the upcoming election.
Could make for some awkward scenes from the box when her and Swift are together at Chiefs games though…
