Tenacious D Band Member Kyle Gass Dropped By His Talent Agency After Distasteful Trump Assassination Remark

We may have all witnessed the downfall of the rock-comedy stylings of Tenacious D.

The rock duo, consisting of Jack Black and Kyle Gass, has been together since 1994. Tenacious D has produced a number of albums and even a movie in their tenure, which potentially just ended with one ill-advised comment at a recent show in Sydney, Australia.

Actor and lead singer of the band, Jack Black, took a moment to celebrate the birthday of bandmate Kyle Gass. And after singing “Happy Birthday” to Gass, Black asked him to make a birthday wish. Gass decided to get political, and disgustingly answered:

“Don’t miss Trump next time.”

Obviously, that remark has landed the band in hot water. Tenacious D’s world tour was quickly canceled, which was revealed in Jack Black’s official statement following the incident. Not only did Black say that the band would be taking a break, he threw his bandmate under the bus distanced himself from his bandmate:

“I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form.

After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.”

Kyle Gass also provided an apology, but that wasn’t enough to make up for his highly questionable commentary. Greene Talent, the agency that was representing Kyle Gass, announced that they would no longer represent the actor and comedian after his politically-violent comment.

Here’s Gass’ official apology:

“The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake. I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone.

What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgement. I profoundly apologize to those I’ve let down and truly regret any pain I’ve caused.”

Needless to say, Gass should have gone with a different birthday wish…
