Well, that lays out how he feels.
Wheeler Walker Jr. has never really been afraid to hold back when it comes to how he feels. He marches to his own drum and does things his way.
With the rise of many artists announcing their crossover into country music, from Beyonce to Lana Del Rey, and even a shocking appearance at CMA Fest from Machine Gun Kelly, one artist has stuck to their word and made major waves in country, and that artist is Post Malone.
He is topping charts from his collaborations with Morgan Wallen and Blake Shelton, and his fans are excited for the release of his forthcoming album F-1 Trillion. While the majority of country listeners have welcomed Post Malone to the genre with open arms, Walker Wheeler Jr. has an opinion that is a 180 from others.
Wheeler Jr. took to social media, delivering a colorful message to Post, noting his thoughts on his released music.
“Hey, Post Malone, Wheeler Walker Jr. here.
Heard your new pop country song with Blake Shelton. Maybe the worst song I’ve ever heard.”
Wheeler Jr. then pauses his message, inserting a portion of the beer-drinking anthem with bathroom noises overlaying the tune.
“Pour Me A Drink” has also been getting quite some traction this week outside of the charts when a smaller artist, Halle Kearns, shared that the melody is nearly identical to a single she released earlier this year, “Homemade Margaritas.” And by nearly identical… it’s almost notes for note.
Now, back to our regularly scheduled program of Wheeler Jr.’s message to Post Malone regarding his country music crossover…
“We’ve got enough sh**ty country without you, Post Malone. Don’t want your filth in country music. You’re dirtying it up. We don’t need people with sh*t all over their face. You’re basically Florida Georgia Line with face tattoos.
Wheeler Walker Jr. says get the f**k out of country. You suck. We don’t like you. Go back to that crappy music you were doing before. Before I knew who you were.
Mr. Malone. See you. Go home.”
We said Wheeler Walker Jr. isn’t afraid to speak his mind, so it’s not shocking in the slightest that he let it rip during this public service announcement. Folks in the comments are split on his take, but one thing is certain: Everyone got a good laugh out of the message.
Maybe a Post Malone and Wheeler Walker Jr. collaboration is what we need to bridge this gap. Perhaps it’s just me, but I feel these two would really cut it up over a few beers.
