A new era of Lainey Wilson.
The Lousiana native is gearing up to release her new album, Whirlwind, and fans are seeing a softer side of Wilson through her latest single. “4x4xU ” is a tender love song that extends the story of her previously released single “Hang Tight Honey.”
“Hang Tight Honey’s” video highlights Wilson being on the road, playing to fans who know how to party, but ultimately wanting to return home with her special someone. The start of “4x4xU’s” video highlights Wilson’s reunion with her love and safety and the slowness she feels when she is in their company. The song is simple and sweet and highlights a side of Wilson that we don’t see very often.
Last year, Wilson publically debuted her relationship with Duck Hodges on the red carpet for the ACM Awards. Fans were shocked to see Wilson on the red carpet with a man and even more shocked to hear that she had kept their relationship private for two years before publically appearing with him. It’s honestly impressive, given how big of a star she is.
Wilson opened up that until she met Duck, she had never written love songs, but now her lyrics show how smitten she is, with warm and fuzzy feelings seeping into her lyrics. Many fans more than likely assumed that Duck was the inspiration behind the lyrics of “4x4xU,” and Wilson confirmed that on stage.
“The truth is, I write what I know, and I finally found a man worth writing about. So you know it’s a love song because y’all probably thought, dang, she ain’t got it in her, she ain’t got it in her… but I do.
I got me a cheerleader.”

When Wilson released the single, she told fans that she hopes everyone finds someone who is their “4x4xU” and that this might be her career’s biggest song.
“This song is about finding that someone that gives you the comfort and peace of home anywhere in the world as long as you’re by their side.
Thank you to the incredible Dano Cerny for directing this video and bringing the vision to life, and to all of my collaborators on this record for being a part of what I think could be my biggest song yet.”
Given the year she is having thus far and the fan feedback on the single, she might not be wrong. This one is well on its way to being a hit. Fire it up.
