Poor fish was probably just as scared as this kid.
Lake season is in full swing, and nothing is better than spending a hot summer day on the water with your friends and family. When you are on the water all day, the invention of the water mat has changed the game. The large floating surfaces are perfect for setting things on, letting your kids run around, laying on to get some sun, and, all in all, just having more surface area outside the boat for folks to enjoy.
You often see little kids running across these mats after boats have anchored, making their own Wipe Out set.
While these pads often leave little room for things to go wrong, leave it to the fish in the lake to scare the living heck out of the kids on the mat. Over the 4th of July weekend, one little girl was not screaming about how much she loved her country but rather in sheer terror after a fish flopped onto the mat.
The fish is fighting for his life, trying to get back into the water, as the little girl backed herself onto the very edge of the mat, keeping as far away as possible from the aquatic animal. As she is letting out screams of fear, you hear some parents on the boat giggling at the incident. And I have to admit…it is pretty funny. The small fish would not cause any harm to the girl, making it hilarious that such a tiny creature warrants such a giant reaction.
Granted, if this were a large catfish or an alligator gar, I would also be screaming my head off.
After watching the child freak out for a few seconds, her heroic father asks someone on the boat to hold his drink. He dives onto the floating pad to swat the fish back into the water, saving the screaming child’s life. We all know this incident was harmless, but I am sure it will instill a great fear of fish into this kid.
Thank goodness for superhero dads like this one. Not only did he save a screaming child, but also the fish from the screaming child.
