One of Taylor Swift’s biggest supporters.
Kenny Chesney has been there for Taylor Swift since day one and is shouting from the mountain tops how talented he thinks she is. From asking her to play on his tour to Swift recalling how much it meant that he still paid her even though the tour fell through to making surprise appearances on stage throughout the years, these two have a special friendship.
Chesney still speaks highly of the artist, and in a recent Pat McAfee interview, he drove home the message of how hard Swift has worked to reach her current state. During a portion of the two’s conversation, McAfee asked how other artists view her.
“For those that know her, like I do, you know the word that went into it.
It’s easy to look at it all and go, ‘Oh wow, this is unbelievable. We are going to emulate this.’ Because we are in an industry of followers, that is just the way it is. One thing I can say about Taylor, first of all, she’s a brilliant writer and a great artist. But she worked really hard.”
McAfee agreed with all the points that Chesney brought up, and it surprised him at first the pushback NFL fans had with her being talked about during games. As she embodies many players’ work-hard motto, he thought fans would recognize that.
“Taylor’s a f***kin’ dog. So I thought football people would be like, ‘This is a bada** if I’ve ever seen it.'”
Football fans might need to get used to seeing more of her because she and Travis seem rock solid in their relationship.
The conversation then took a turn. Kenny Chesney noted how incredible it was that she made a full crossover from country to pop; if anyone were going to do it, it would be her. He joked that he would fail massively if he released a pop record today.
“It’s obviously not hard for her. It would be hard for me. I can’t make any other music, than the music I make. I can’t decide, ‘Okay, I’m going to make a pop record.’
I sing the way I sing. I just don’t think it would be authentic. It would be very disingenuous for me to do that, but those who can… of course, Taylor. I mean, she is just one of the most amazing artists of our time. And very obviously, very diverse.”
In short…Chesney is a HUGE Swiftie.
