The story continues.
Today, Lainey Wilson released the third song (and a music video) from her forthcoming Whirlwind album called “4x4xU,” which is a sort of follow-up to “Hang Tight Honey,” which is the other video she just put out yesterday.
“Hang Tight Honey” finds Lainey out on the road doing what she loves, while missing someone special back home, and trying to strike that elusive balance between work and family, essentially. She’s been having fun playing one night stands to fans who know how to get “straight up sideways,” but knowing that she’ll be back in their arms soon ultimately keeps her going and singing songs about them on stage.
At the end of that video, you see Lainey and her man getting off the bus to head home, and the “4x4xU” video picks up with them getting in the truck to drive away.
Lainey previously said that she felt the two songs were a perfect pair, so it was only right to release the videos this way, and I love the creative nature and storytelling aspect of both songs together and separate.
“4x4xU” was written by co-written by Lainey along with Jon Decious and Aaron Raitiere, and is a love song about finding “home” no matter where you’re at in the world, as long as you’re with the one you love.
It’s pretty rare to get a more stripped-back, love song like this from her, and I hope there’s more to come in that vein on her aforementioned album. She says she thinks it could be her biggest song yet, and I have to agree in terms of how unique it is in her broader catalog:
“I’m so excited for everyone to finally have their hands on ‘4x4xU.’ This song is about finding that someone that gives you the comfort and peace of home anywhere in the world as long as you’re by their side.
Thank you to the incredible Dano Cerny for directing this video and bringing the vision to life, and to all of my collaborators on this record for being a part of what I think could be my biggest song yet.”
