Was “gator spotted snacking on snake like a fruit-roll-up” on your 2024 Florida Bingo card? If it was, go ahead and mark it off, because we’ve got the video to prove that the unlikely, absurd-sounding encounter actually took place.
Matt Devitt, a Chief Meteorologist in South Florida, has basically become the keeper of Sunshine State alligator videos, so to speak. If a video of a gator doing something strange hits the web, Devitt is there to share it on his feed as well. Thus, he makes a great social media follow if you like alligator videos… and occasionally want to be updated on South Florida weather.
This one out of Fort Myers beach that was recently shared definitely turned some heads. It’s not the biggest alligator that’s ever been videoed, but that’s not the important part of the footage. The crucial detail is that the smaller gator is stomping down the street while chewing on a snake like a piece of beef jerky.
In other words, dudes would see this and say, “Hell yeah.”
If this were any other state, I’d be more surprised. However, since this alligator was snacking on a snake walking down a Florida road, it’s really just par for the course. The only thing the video is missing is a Florida man coming out of nowhere and trying to use the snake to play tug of war with the gator.

Just absurd.
I’ve really just got a lot of questions after watching that. Why is it walking down the road? Why doesn’t it just stop and eat the snake in its entirety?
