Firing back.
Over the weekend, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl made headlines while his band was playing at London Stadium, and pop star Taylor Swift was at the nearby Wembley Stadium.
He actually took a minute to address the fact that the she was also in town, and had some jokes about Swift and her use of backing tracks:
“I tell you man, you don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift. So we like to call our tour the Errors Tour. We’ve had more than a few eras, and more than a few f***ing errors as well. Just a couple. That’s because we actually play live. Just sayin’.”
And let’s just say, obviously, it didn’t sit well with her fan base, the “Swifties,” and they pretty much ripped him apart on social media (not that I expected anything less).
You can read more about it HERE, but if you haven’t seen the original video yet, go ahead and check it out:

And I guess Taylor caught wind of it all, because at her show Sunday night in London, she seemingly responded to Grohl’s comments by shouting out her band for “playing live,” saying:
“What you just did is an unforgettable moment in not just my life, but every one of my band members, every single one of our crew.
My band is going to be playing live for you for three and a half hours tonight, they deserve this so much. And so does every one of my fellow performers, and you just gave that to us so generously. We will never forget it.”
From what I’ve heard and gathered, Swift’s band does play live but they also do use tracks at different times, which is fairly standard in the concert world, especially on the level of production that she has (though no one wants you to know that).
She typically sings live at her concerts, but again, lip-syncing isn’t all that uncommon at shows of this level and she has been accused of doing so in the past (she certainly wouldn’t be the first pop star to do it and she won’t be the last).
Here’s what she said to the London audience:

Honestly, I was surprised to hear Grohl threw some shade at Taylor, because they’ve been friendly in the past, and he even praised her publicly while playing at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in 2015. Grohl actually dedicated a song to her after she opened for the Foo Fighters, telling the crowd at the festival that he was “officially obsessed.”
It’s also pretty out of character for him to purposefully go after someone, and he always comes across a super likable and down-to-earth, so I’m thinking he might’ve ,meant for it to come across as more self-deprecating and funny than how it was interpreted by a lot of people (namely her fans).
Grohl has been consistent in maintaining that his band doesn’t use backing tracks at live shows, mostly so they can make changes and have more freedom when it comes to performing in-person for fans.
And I’m trying really hard to be unbiased here, because I love Dave Grohl and his work with both Nirvana and the Foo Fighters, but to all the young Swifties who have maybe never heard of him before, the “who is he?” comments are not it either…
” who is he ? ” Girl he’s the drummer of the band whose tshirt you’re wearing https://t.co/zBWfAwO1xU

Stay tuned, I’m sure this won’t be the last we hear of all this.
