And there’s not a bigger topic on the internet worth questionoing right now than the “Hawk Tuah” girl. You’ve likely heard of her by now, and if you haven’t, I promise your wife/girlfriend doesn’t believe you when you say that you haven’t. She’s completely taken over the internet with just two words… or words that sound like sounds (onomatopoeias?).
Hawk tuah, to be specific.
One of the simultaneously great and sad things about the day and age we live in is that one moment can make someone a viral sensation. Sometimes it even goes a step further, and the person who is thrust into the spotlight – either by meme or memorable moment – becomes famous.
That exact thing happened to the “That Motherf**ker Is Not Real” plane lady, Tiffany Gomas. Guess what? She’s famous now, even though I think she’d even agree that wasn’t her proudest moment. But someone got it on video, the footage got out to the masses, and the people liked what they saw.
Enter “Hawk Tuah” girl. In the same vein, she burst onto the scene for something that… let’s just say her parents wouldn’t be too proud of. Despite the NSFW message she proclaimed in an on-the-street interview in Nashville, she’s somehow appealed to everyone. At the very least, she’s brought the country together temporarily, and that’s worth something.
She’s also got the attention of The Notorious Conor McGregor. In a since deleted post, the MMA fighter asked what everyone else has been thinking over the past week as “Hawk Tuah” has taken over social media:
“Have we located Hawk Tuah yet?”
I love that he asked that question as if her actual name is Hawk Tuah. It might as well be after all of this.
It’s also funny that he deleted the post shortly afterwards, but as you know, the internet is forever. People got screenshots of his question and it has still made its rounds online. The good news for Conor McGregor? The internet banded together and found out the real identity of the “Hawk Tuah” girl…
“Hawk Tuah” Finally Identified & She’s Selling Autographed Merch
despite being the most famous person on the internet this week, Miss Hawk has kept a relatively low profile, probably a little overwhelmed at her viral fame.
But there’s no way she was going to be able to stay hidden for too long with the entire world searching for her.
And sure enough, Miss Hawk has now been identified as Hailey Welch – and she’s selling autographed Hawk Tuah merch (because of course she is).
There have been a few different supposed identifications of America’s Sweetheart over the past week, but the internet was able to piece together her true identity using a few clues.
First of all, the creators of the original video had initially tagged Miss Hawk in the video before deleting it. Welch then apparently deleted all of her social media accounts as the internet began frantically trying to track her down (don’t blame her there). But a hat company in Belfast, TN posted a photo offering Hawk Tuah merch, along with a photo of Hailey signing some hats.
You can see that the signature on the hat appears to say “Hailey,” and the tattoos and earrings of the girl in the photo are a perfect match for Miss Hawk.
But to further confirm her identity, the original creators of the viral video, Tim & Dee TV, posted a full-length video of their encounter with Miss Hawk last night where her friend can be heard calling her by her first name: Hailey.
Ladies and gentlemen, the internet has done it again.
There have been a lot of rumors flying around, but so far we don’t know a ton about Hailey (other than what she does in bed and that she likes backshots). But it seems like she’s happy to take advantage of her viral fame, so maybe we’ll be seeing more of Hawk Tuah in the future.
