This one’s gonna be messy.
Hell, it’s already been messy since Billy Ray Cyrus filed for divorce from his wife, Australian singer Firerose, last month.
The couple were married back in October, with the 62-year old Cyrus announcing his marriage to the 36-year old Firerose on Instagram after a surprise wedding ceremony.
It didn’t last long though, with the couple’s official date of separation listed as May 22, 2024, and Cyrus gave his soon-to-be ex-wife a deadline of May 24th to leave their home while giving her a $500-a-night stipend over ten days for temporary housing.
The country music singer cited “inappropriate marital conduct” and “irreconcilable differences” in his divorce filing, and an alleged credit card spending spree didn’t help the rocky marriage either…
But in her response, Firerose claims Cyrus wanted out of the marriage one day after he discovered that she was planning on getting a double mastectomy, and accused the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer of “extreme verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse.” She also claimed that she was “subjected to Husband’s persistent drug use accompanied with the consumption of marijuana which made Husband unpredictable and volatile towards Wife.”
The response says that Cyrus would call Firerose a “selfish f**king b*tch,” and that she postponed her surgery because she had nowhere to live and was relying on her then-husband’s health insurance to pay for it.
Well needless to say, Cyrus doesn’t exactly agree with her characterization.
After Firerose (whose real name is Johanna Rosie Hodges) made her allegations in court, Billy Ray provided notes and text messages to Page Six that he claims were sent to him by Firerose after he filed for divorce begging him to come back.
In the handwritten note, Firerose allegedly writes:
“I miss you more than I can possibly explain in words Baby. Please let’s work this out and not become anything but closer out of this hellish experience.
I need you. I love you. I am so sorry.”
And a text message that Cyrus says was sent to him by his future ex-wife also expresses hopes of reconciliation:
“I am listening to you Baby. I love you. I don’t want us to be on different sides fighting a war that nobody wins.
I am going to do what you’re telling me because you promise me we can talk as soon as I’ve left and I trust you. I’m praying with my entire soul that we can find each other again today. I feel completely lost & miss you more than I can explain. And you will know I’m listening to and show you with my actions.
We need to be kind and loving to each other no matter what happens. You have been my best friend in the world every day for over 4 years. 24/7.
I miss you terribly. My heart is shattered & I need my best friend right now more than ever. I lost 5lbs since Wednesday. I just can’t eat no matter how much I try. I don’t want to live without you.
Please give me a chance to make this right. I can explain everything but I need you on my side. I need my Hero back.”
Of course the fact that she sent those messages doesn’t mean that the abuse claims aren’t also true, but they simply add another layer to an already messy divorce – all after a marriage that only lasted 7 months.
