From the aisles of Walmart to the stage of CMA Fest. Mason Ramsey is BACK.
Last summer, after years off the scene, Mason Ramsey triumphantly returned to country music. While the ” Yodel Kid” might have a different sound now (thanks to puberty), Mason Ramsey is showing folks that he still has the “Twang” that made him a viral sensation all these years later.
For those of you who might not know Ramsey’s story, after going mega-viral for yodeling at a local Walmart, he released EPs at the height of his fame before taking a hiatus to, well…be a kid. During his time off, he was putting in hard work as a subway employee, but he is now back and still creating viral moments… Unfortunately, this one isn’t for his singing, though.

Ramsey was invited to perform during CMA Fest and social media can’t get enough of his stage presence. As a personal fan of his new track “Blue Over You,” I was thrilled to see this on his set list, but the energy he brings to his other tracks is gaining quite some traction as people compare his dance moves to Elvis, Austin Powers, or Baby Billy Freeman from Righteous Gemstones. And I can honestly see each and every one of these comparisons in some light or another.
During the instrument breaks of his songs, Ramsey is letting it rip, whipping his hair back and forth and pumping his arm to the beat of the drum.
“The kid that used to yodel in from of Walmart goes hard now.”
@laurahardyradio Not gonna lie, didn’t expect @Mason Ramsey to go so wild during his #cmafest ♬ original sound – 🎙Laura Hardy ✨
Can’t blame the kid for getting into the groove. While I am not sure the riff is hard enough for that much hair-flipping, I can respect the heck out of the energy he brings to the stage. After watching it from another angle, I knew I needed to dive into the comments section and boy; they did not disappoint.
Many are comparing Ramsey to Elvis with his new sound and dance moves, and I am honestly here for it. He does have an old soul kind of sound that is very nostalgic, and his swingin’ hips do resemble The King of Rock and Roll.
