“Wille Nelson’s Gotta Be In This” – Jake Gyllenhaal Only Has One Request For Upcoming “Road House” Sequel

Willie Nelson, at 91-year-young, is still an incredibly busy man.

While most others of his age would be bumbling around a retirement community, Nelson is too busy living to slow down for all of that. The Red-Headed Stranger just released another studio album titled The Border, further cementing his living legend status.

The fact that Willie is still making music (great, thoughtful music at that) at his age is remarkable, but with all the other things he’s accomplished in his life, it shouldn’t be all that surprising. Crazy stories from Nelson’s life are plentiful at this point, with some prime examples being that he has a black belt in martial arts, or the infamous story of Willie torching a billboard so people didn’t know he lived in his hometown again.

Needless to say, Willie Nelson just might be the most interesting man in the world. That makes him highly sought after for basically anything – including big, blockbuster movies. The “Always On My Mind” singer is no stranger to being on the big screen. Back in 1986, Willie showed off his acting chops in a TV movie titled Stagecoach, which he starred in alongside Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson.

And more recently, Nelson starred in a movie that took over 10 years to put together called Willie and Me, a comedy by a first-time German filmmaker that revolved around and starred Willie Nelson (who played multiple parts). There’s no doubt that Willie can sing, and judging by his intriguing IMDB page, he can act a little bit too.

That must be why movie star Jake Gyllenhaal is interested in having Nelson join the cast of “Road House Two,” the upcoming sequel to the popular and successful, straight-to-streaming remake of the 1989 film Road House (starring Patrick Swayze).

I know that sentence might be confusing, so what I’m trying to say is Road House was just remade this year, with Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor playing lead roles. It did so well, or at least was watched by so many people, that Amazon green lit a second installment (of a movie that was originally a reboot).

But anyways, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gyllenhaal was talking about the confirmed sequel to the 2024 Road House movie, and started discussing some dream casting opportunities. Apparently, Gyllenhaal was listening to the SiriusXM radio station “Willie’s Roadhouse” on the way to the interview, and he immediately thought that Nelson would be a great addition to the cast:

“Wait, Willie Nelson’s got to be in this. Willie Nelson’s got to do a song with Post Malone.”

So Willie would star in the film, and while he’s there, possibly collaborate with Post Malone? SAY LESS. I haven’t gotten around to watching the newest Road House movie (I’m getting to it), though I will say, if Willie Nelson gets confirmed as a cast member for the sequel, I’m THERE. And by there, I mean signing into Prime Video on my couch to watch the sequel.

We already know that Willie knows how to act, and that he has a black belt in martial arts. Seems like him starring in “Road House Two” was inevitable…
