Would I be in the same position as this person if I attempted to launch a boat from the ramp? Yes. But would I ever attempt this? No. And that is about identifying your strengths and weaknesses.
I can fully admit that one of my favorite things about lake season is watching the boat ramp. From the seasoned pros who load and unload boats like a well-oiled machine to the new boat owners who have not had luck, the boat ramp is the best form of people-watching during the summer.
While I obviously would never wish these unfortunate events on anyone, videos of cars fully submerging or getting stuck from backing into the water too much make for a top-tier viewing experience. The low of thinking that they might get stuck to the high of seeing them successfully recover is a cinematic roller coaster.
However, some unlucky souls never fully recover and have to leave the lake with their tails between their legs, or in this case, their boat ramps and cars on a tow truck.
Unfortunately for this person, their kick-off to lake season was short-lived as they completely sank their truck. A group of people fishing off the dock near the boat ramp captured the moment on video when a truck lost traction and slid into the shallow water. The water quickly filled the vehicle’s cabin, sinking it with the boat still behind it.
The boat was fine due to its buoyancy, but the truck…I think that one is going to be a wash.
“Oh my f**king God.”
One of the men watching the tragedy unfold yelled as the truck became fully submerged. The video then cuts to the truck being pulled out of the water by another truck and water POURS out of the cab.
I bet that boat day was filled with a lot of silence after that…Stay safe out there, folks. The boat ramp shows no mercy.
