No one is saying that Kelsea Ballerini can’t sing, but for this particular performance, fans had a lot of opinions…

Noah Kahan recently played back to back sold out nights at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and from what I’ve been reading online it was an incredible weekend, but on night two he brought out Kelsea Ballerini for the “Stick Season” encore and while some people absolutely loved it, others had quite a different take.

There’s a number of clips online that show other parts of the performance that to my ears sounds pretty good but a certain clip of the two singing the now iconic first lines of the chorus has been surfacing online and whether it was a bad mic mix or the phone didn’t pick up the music quite right, her attempt at harmonizing almost completely drowned out his lead vocals and, well, could have been better. The video also appears to be from right next to stage which doesn’t usually provide the best sound experience.

Take a listen to the clip, specifically after the 30ish second mark, to see what’s being talked about.

And without further adieu, here’s some of the comments, both from this video and other pages that reposted this original recording:

“She ruined it”

“Both are great separate but don’t mix well”

“Terrible”

“It’s like that drunk girl that won’t sit down at karaoke”

“Listen, Kelsea has a solid voice but idk she didn’t hit too well on this one”

“Ma’am when the harmony is twice as loud as the melody it doesn’t work I’m sorry”

“She’s not very good at duetting”

“I love her but that song just don’t suit her”

“Good song but she ruined it”

“Make her stop”

“Nah she ruined this tbh. wasn’t in tune at all”

“Yikes”

And there were plenty more where that came from.

I think the real problem here was how the sound got picked up in the recording or that her mic was turned up a bit too much because listen to this clip from a different angle; I think it sounds really good honestly.

There were also comments from people who were actually in attendance and they all seemed to love it so maybe this is just another one of those examples of “don’t trust everything you see on the internet”.

Regardless, I think both Noah and Kelsea are doing just fine without reading the comment section.

If you need proof that Kelsea can sing her ass off, check out this live performance of “Leave Me Again.”
