Knowing what you want in life is a blessing.
Indecisiveness comes for us all, though there are some people (and creatures) out there that just take life by the you-know-whats and get what they want. This bear in Monrovia, California is one of those types of beings.
Why do I say that? Well, it has been nicknamed “Oreo,” and that’s not because it has an interesting black and white coat. It’s solely because when the black bear breaks into homes, the big ol’ wild animal is only looking for one thing: Delectable, delicious Oreos.
And here’s the thing… he’s a repeat offender. The Monrovia neighborhood has reported multiple break ins at the paws of this bear, and officials know it’s the same culprit every time because the homeowner’s Oreos are always gone after the bear flees the premises.
On multiple different occasions, the bear has been caught on video stealing the cookies. Not too long ago, the bear broke into a car filled with groceries and only took out the Oreos. This time around, the bear broke into a home by tearing down a screen window, entering, grabbing the Oreos, and exiting the way it came in.
Vina Khoury, the homeowner who had her house broken into (and cookies stolen), had this to say when ABC7 interviewed her about the incident:
“Now that he actually broke into the house, it’s a bit scary. I feel like I cannot leave a window open, even with the screen, because he literally took the screen out. So that’s a little alarming for me.”
Because of the bear’s boldness and apparent craving for sweet treats, residents in the area are now clamoring for wildlife officials to relocate the wild animal. Removing the bear is likely the best line of defense, unless officials in the area want to build some sort of Oreo-themed nature area for the bear to live out its days enjoying endless packages of the sweet treats.
