Want to listen to the music Chris Stapleton is listening to? You’ll soon be able to do just that thanks to SiriusXM’s newest artist-focused channel “Chris Stapleton Radio.”
The concept is one that the satellite radio service has long dabbled in. SiriusXM chooses artists and bands like Bruce Springsteen, the Grateful Dead, John Mayer, Jimmy Buffett, and Willie Nelson (Willie’s Roadhouse) to base an entire channel around. Thus, the music playing on that station plays the artist/band’s own stuff, music like it, or tracks curated by the artists/bands themselves.
It’s a pretty cool idea, and acts as another connecting point between artists and their fans. So if you are a Chris Stapleton die-hard (and you have a SiriusXM subscription), you’ll likely be excited to check out “Chris Stapleton Radio” on Channel 63, starting May 23rd.
The channel will be a permanent fixture in SiriusXM’s expansive lineup, and as I mentioned earlier, will feature Stapleton’s own music, along with some other tracks and tunes that have inspired Chris, his wife Morgane, and his band throughout Stapleton’s career. In SiriusXM’s official announcement of the channel, it states that fans can expect to hear “the kings and queens of country, rock, soul,” as well as stories behind the songs told by Stapleton himself.
The “White Horse” singer gave his thoughts on why now felt like the right time to launch the new, exclusive radio channel:
“Chris Stapleton Radio gives people another way to connect with our music – where me and the rest of the guys in the band and Morgane are coming from. What our influences are. Knowing that when people come to watch a show, what they’re hearing is informed by the things that are on this channel.
That’s probably the ultimate reason that I want to do this.”
I think I can speak for all country fans when I say that we’re all here for some more Chris Stapleton content. I don’t know about you, but I’ll be cueing open “Chris Stapleton Radio” as soon as its available.
