Melissa Peterman Set To Join Reba McEntire In New Sitcom

A SINGLE MOM WHO WORKS TWO JOBS, WHO LOVES HER KIDS AND NEVER STOPS.

Sorry for typing that out in all caps, I’m just excited for this makeshift Reba reunion that is set to come to NBC sometime soon (fingers crossed). Plus, anytime I think of the song “I’m A Survivor,” I have to belt it out like that… even when typing it out.

In case you didn’t hear, Reba McEntire is set to return to television with a new multi-camera sitcom that still has yet to be named. Despite that, it is moving forward with this premise as the show’s driving force:

“Bobbie (played by Reba) inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had.”

Say less. I am THERE. If they can promise that Reba’s character Bobbie will be wisecracking like when she played herself on her self-titled sitcom, there’s zero chance the show fails. You can take that to the bank… while also forgetting that I said that if the show doesn’t get episodes ordered after the pilot.

But something tells me this show will be a hit, and part of that is because they are reuniting former Reba co-stars in McEntire and Melissa Peterman. The incomparable “Barbra Jean” could not have been played by anyone else on the classic 2000’s TV show. Peterman will bring her patented energy to a role alongside Reba in the new sitcom.

Melissa will reportedly play a character named Gabby, who works at the restaurant that Reba’s character inherited and is “a bit needy and dramatic and would have loved to be Bobbie’s sister.” Sounds like a perfect role for Barbra Jean… I mean Peterman.

And this is great news for fans of the original Reba sitcom. The only way it could be better is if they somehow manage to work some other staple characters from the 2000’s TV show into the cast. Then obviously, the best news would be that the series has been ordered by NBC. How could it not be?

Then just in case you wanted to turn the speakers all the way up on whatever you are reading this on, here’s a link to “I’m A Survivor” by Reba:
