Kaitlin Butts is BACK.
The woman who loves to make men cry dropped a new single today that highlights a woman who is crazy in love… and might be a little crazy… in general. “Hunt You Down” perfectly encapsulates Butts’ sound mixing a light-hearted sounded melody with lyrics that sign as a warning to men.
“I think we can all agree that a love song with a little threat of murder is pretty on-brand.”
The upbeat western ditty was originally written and recorded by Kesha on her 2017 album, Rainbow, and narrates a woman who is head over heels for a man:
“I wanna be your baby, your angel all in black
Your little blue-eyed gypsy who’s always got your back…”
But she yodels him a warning that if he does not care for her heart, it will be bad news bears. While she might be crazy in love with this man, the narrator might also just be plain crazy.
“I ain’t never hurt nobody, never buried a body
Never killed no one, no, no
I ain’t afraid to get a little crazy
Baby, when I’m in love…”
The final warning shot is that the woman will “Hunt You Down” if you mess around. Only Kaitlin Butts could make so many songs about murder sound chic and light-hearted, but she does it oh so well.
