We all know Cole Hauser as the relentless ranch hand and John Dutton’s right hand man on Yellowstone.

When you think of Cole Hauser, you can’t help but think of a cowboy, and that’s much in part to the success of the show. Although, Hauser was no stranger to horses when he signed on for the Paramount Network hit show. He grew up around cowboys, telling Fox News Digital in a recent interview:

“I’ve been around cowboys all my life, having grown up on a ranch in Oregon; now working alongside cowboys on ‘Yellowstone.’

Whether it’s the hardworking wranglers on or off set, they’re the first to rise, and one thing’s for sure, they have a cup of coffee in their hands before the break of dawn.”

Hauser was born into a Hollywood family in Santa Barbara, California, but when his parents divorced, he spent some time in Oregon with ranchers, before returning back to Santa Barbara when he was 12. In a recent interview with Daily Mail, he admitted that he was a bigger fan of surfing and skateboarding during his time in California.

Hauser is now the face of Lucky Brand blue jeans, and during the interview, he recalled his first pair:

“When Lucky Brand was new I got a great pair of jeans. I used to skate and surf back then and they were the only pair of jeans that I had for the winter time, so of course I wore them out at the knee.

I asked my mom if we could get patches to put on the knee . She said no, no, we’ll make them into shorts. So she cut them and I ended up wearing them as shorts for the summer.”

Jorts guy, eh?

So, even though Hauser is a big fan of the cowboy lifestyle, he spent the majority of his summers in the sunshine in Santa Barbara and riding waves.
