Country music will have a very strong showing at this year’s Billboard Music Awards.
The show includes artists from across all musical genres, and honors the year’s hottest names in music determined by year-end performance metrics on the Billboard charts.
And Morgan Wallen, Zach Bryan, and Luke Combs are all nominated in multiple categories, after all three respectively crushed it at both country radio, and on the Billboard all-genre chart, from the year they dated tracking dates November 4th, 2022 through October 12th, 2023.
Morgan and Luke both scored multiple #1’s at country radio in the past year, with all three of them charting on the all-genre chart as Zach and Morgan had #1 hits, and Luke came extremely close when “Fast Car” peaked at #2.
Morgan is actually the leading male finalist this year, as he’s up for 16 awards including Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, and Top Hot 100 Artist.
His album One Thing At A Time is up for two awards, while his song “Last Night” is up for three awards, including Top Hot 100 Song, after it spent 16 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100.
Zach Bryan is a first-time finalist up for 13 awards, including Top New Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Hot 100 Songwriter, and Top Streaming Songs Artist, and even a few awards in the “Rock” category.
His song “Something in the Orange” is a finalist for three awards, including Top Streaming Song, Top Country Song, and twice in the Top Rock Song category.
And lastly, Luke is up for 10 awards, including Top Male Artist, Top Country Album, Top Country Male Artist and Top Hot 100 Artist.
Other nominated country artists include George Strait, Jelly Roll (also nominated in both “Rock” and “Country”), Oliver Anthony, Hardy, Bailey Zimmerman, Lainey Wilson, Megan Moroney and more. Songwriter Ashley Gorley and Producer Joey Moi are nominated, as well.
This year’s Billboard award show will take place on November 19th, and you can watch it live on NBC. The event will also be available to stream on Peacock. Presenters and performers will be announced in the coming weeks.
And while, sure, this award show really doesn’t mean anything, it does go to show how many people all over the world are listening to country music right now in comparison to global superstars like Bad Bunny, SZA, Taylor Swift and Drake, which is pretty cool.
Zach, Luke and Morgan are up there with all of them, and unlike country award shows in the CMA’s and ACM’s, which are voted by industry people, these are purely based on Billboard’s chart metrics.
