There’s truly no one else like country music icon Dolly Parton.

The “Jolene” singer is basically a walking content fountain, with stories of her both back in the day and present day making headlines easily and often.

And in her new book Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones, which released this past week, Parton personally brought some more stories to light.

Dolly officially kicked off her country music career with her 1967 debut album Hello, I’m Dolly, and really started gaining traction in the 1970’s and 1980’s.

She’s basically been the “Queen of Country Music” for the last 50 years, and is even giving rock and roll music a shot with her upcoming album Rockstar releasing this November.

Whether she’s been a country star, a rock star, or even a movie star during her career, she’s always looked the part, thanks to her iconic hair and flawless makeup.

And as it turns out, she apparently always looks like that, and we know that now thanks to a revelation she provided in her new book.

Dolly attributed her 24/7 signature look to a time when she lived in California, saying:

“When I arrived in LA in the ’80s, I started sleeping with my makeup on, partly because of the earthquakes.

I thought, ‘I’m not heading out on the streets without makeup in case there are cameras out there! I’m going to be ready to go!'”

That’s some legendary stuff right there…

For all of you reading that and thinking “that must be so bad for her skin,” Dolly made sure to address that in her book as well.

Parton defended herself against all of the skin care haters by saying:

“It doesn’t matter when you clean your face as long as you clean it once a day.

After I wake up, I do all the little rituals, and then I start over again and go out every day and look good all day long.”

She went on to say that she still goes to bed now in full makeup even though she lives in Tennessee, only because she doesn’t want to “look like a hag” as she gets into bed with her husband Carl Dean, who she’s been married to for over 50 years.

Dolly’s always thinking of others…

And while we are talking about Dolly Parton, we might as well take some time to listen to one of her “new” rock songs. How about “Let It Be” with the surviving members of The Beatles?
