I have to admit, I’m generally a sucker for sad country songs, but give me an up-tempo, blue collar anthems, and I’m not mad at you. And that’s what we got right here. Mainstream country powerhouses Jon Pardi and Luke Bryan have teamed up to release the hard workin’ honky tonk heater, “Cowboys and Plowboys.”

Written by Rhett Akins, Jacob Rice, and Cole Taylor, the song is an ode to all the folks out there who ain’t afraid to get their hands dirty for a living. And even though cowboys and plowboys have their differences, they all like to enjoy a cold beer or two and have a good time once the work is finished.

The chorus speaks for itself:

“Cowboys and plowboys
Just some good old small town boys
Both make the world go ’round boys
Boy, ain’t that the truth?

Yeah, we got different roots, we wear different boots
But we ain’t that different when the day is through
So, here’s to the cowboys and plowboys like me and you
Just like me and you…”

It’s a feel-good, radio friendly tune that isn’t gonna win a Grammy anytime soon, but hey, not every song has to be “He Stopped Loving Her Today.”

Pardi weighed in on the song, and working with Bryan:

“I’ve always looked up to Luke as a songwriter and an artist, and he’s a great friend. We’ve been on tour together and he’s been someone that has inspired me along the way and always had my back.

We’ve been excited to put this song out for a long time, and I can’t wait for people to hear it.”

Bryan added:

“When the writers sent this song I couldn’t stop listening to it and I’m so glad it worked out for Pardi to be the one I got to sing it with. He is one of the most genuine artists I know.

What you see is truly what you get and I respect what he continues to build.”
