Tough break for Saints fans.

Earlier this month, the New Orleans Saints found out that they would be without their star running back Alvin Kamara for the first three games of the season, the result of pleading no contest to assault charges after being involved in an altercation after the 2022 Pro Bowl in Las Vegas.

But this offseason the Saints also reunited with standout tight end Jimmy Graham, who spent his first five seasons in New Orleans before going on to play for the Seattle Seahawks, the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears.

Since leaving New Orleans, Graham has never been able to match his production that he had during his time with the Saints. He sat out the 2022 season after his contract with the Bears expired. And the Saints have had a hard time finding a tight end of Graham’s caliber to fill the hole that his absence left, so it seemed like the perfect situation to bring Graham back to Who Dat Nation to see if they could recreate the magic from his first stint in New Orleans.

Well unfortunately, the regular season hasn’t even kicked off yet and Graham is already facing legal trouble.

According to TMZ, Graham was arrested last night outside of a Southern California resort after officers responded to a report of a man acting erratically. When they arrived on the scene, they found Graham wandering in traffic and attempted to arrest him, but he resisted their efforts.

Officers suspected that Graham was under the influence, so he was eventually taken into custody on misdemeanor charges of suspicion of being under a controlled substance and resisting arrest. He has since been released from jail, and has not yet commented on the bizarre incident.

Graham is in California with the Saints for their preseason game against the Los Angeles Charges this Sunday, and even shared a picture of himself talking to his former quarterback Drew Brees during a joint practice yesterday.

The Saints and the NFL have yet to comment on the arrest, but Saints fans have to be holding their breath and hoping they don’t lose yet another offensive weapon to start the season.

UPDATE:

The Saints have released a statement indicating that Graham may have had a seizure.

“Graham experienced a medical episode last evening which resulted in him becoming disoriented.

He was taken into custody by local authorities and transported to a local hospital for evaluation for what Dr. John Amoss believes to be a likely seizure and spent the night under medical supervision and testing.”

He was released this morning and is back with the team.
