Football season is so close I can almost taste it, and I don’t know how much longer I can wait for it to start…
And with kickoff right around the corner comes the announcement that Carrie Underwood is returning for her 11th season singing the iconic Sunday Night Football theme song.
Per the usual with the SNF opener, her rendition of “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” has been slightly updated from last year, and was actually filmed on set of her ongoing Las Vegas REFLECTION residency this year.
The video itself will look a bit different each weekend depending on the game’s location and what the matchup is, and in addition, the lyrics will change slightly depending on the teams featured that week.
Carrie says she loved shooting in Vegas this year and, like most of us, can’t wait for football season to kickoff once again:
“Once again, the incredible Sunday Night Football team came up with a fresh, exciting visual concept that really gave us a chance to play.
I loved shooting the show open again this year at our home away from home, The Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, and can’t wait for another season of football!”
The song will debut on Sunday, September 10th on NBC when Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys take on Daniel Jones and the NFC East rival New York Giants.

Of course, Faith Hill was the SNF girl for many years, belting out “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night” every weekend on TV’s across America, but I’ve loved seeing Carrie step up and carry on the torch over the last decade. If anyone is on Faith’s level in terms of vocal ability, it’s Carrie Underwood.
Preseason NFL games will start this Thursday, August 3rd with the annual Hall of Fame Game that features the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns this year, and the regular season games officially return with Thursday Night Football on September 7th as the Detroit Lions pay a visit to the Kansas City Chiefs.
