A sad day for fans of The Eagles.

The iconic rock and roll band announced this morning their final tour, Eagles: The Long Goodbye.

“The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe, keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals, and setbacks of many kinds.

Credit and thanks go to our longtime management team, our dedicated road crew, and our exceptional backup musicians for providing skilled and steadfast support throughout these many years.

We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful.”

While the announcement of this final tour is only shown with thirteen booked dates across the United States, it comes with the caveat of a tour unlike any other.

The Eagles plan to keep the tour going as long as there is market demand from their fans.

In their statement announcing the tour, the band noted:

“The official farewell tour is currently in the planning stages. We want to give all our fans a chance to see us in this final round. So, scheduling information will be released as dates are set.

The difficulties of booking venues for multiple nights may require us to return to certain cities, depending on demand. But, we hope to see as many of you as we can before we finish up.”

So, in theory, the tour could go well into 2024, if not longer. The end that has no end.

The iconic band will be accompanied on currently announced dates by Steely Dan, and Vince Gill will continue to tour with the band on their final stretch.

Gill joined the band in 2017 alongside Deacon Frey, the son of late guitarist Glenn Frey.

When Vince Gill was approached to join the group, many die-hard fans gave him a lot of backlash, which he quickly addressed at the time. He quickly notes that his addition to the band will never come close to Frey’s impact as an original member.

Back in 2022, during an interview with The Medina Gazettehe expressed his gratitude for the experience noting:

“I don’t think the Eagles get enough credit for the contributions they made to country music, let alone the No. 1 and No. 3 records of all time. The impact they had on country music started back in the early ’70s. That became more of a blueprint for how some of the country records got made.

So I realize that and respect that. It’s just been a pretty surreal experience.”

Tickets for The Long Goodbye Tour go on sale July 14th at 10 AM local time. If you want a more elevated concert experience, VIP packages for all announced dates go on sale on July 12th.

While an iconic five decades of The Eagles are coming to an end, I have a feeling these guys will have the demand to continue adding shows for quite some time.
