The hits just keep coming for Donald Trump.
Of course everybody’s heard about the former president’s newest legal trouble, a 37-count federal indictment charging Trump with a wide range of crimes related to his possession and disclosure of classified documents.
Trump was arraigned today in a federal court in Miami, and has plead not guilty to the charges.
Meanwhile on the campaign trail, many of Trump’s fellow Republican candidates for president have vowed to pardon the former president should they win the White House in 2024.
But not the Tiger King – at least not right away.
Joe Exotic, star of the hit Netflix show Tiger King, is the latest to speak out on the issue of a pardon for Trump.
And why, you might ask, would anybody care what the Tiger King has to say?
Well, he’s also a candidate for president.
Back in March, Joe Exotic announced that he would be mounting a campaign for the Oval Office as a Democrat, despite the fact that he’s currently locked up in federal prison himself.
“Put aside that I am gay, that I am in prison for now, that I used drugs in the past, that I had more then one boyfriend at once and that Carole hates my guts.
This all has not a thing to do with me being able to be your voice. The best thing you have going for supporting me is that I am used to fighting my whole life just to get by.
I am broke, they have taken everything I ever worked for away, and it’s time we take this country back. And yes, I have people in mind that can help run this country a hell of a lot better then they are now, so lets cross that bridge when we get to it.”
But it appears that Carole Baskin isn’t the only one that Exotic currently has beef with. Apparently he’s still a little upset with the former president for not pardoning him during Trump’s last term.
Exotic and his supporters launched a massive campaign during the closing days of Trump’s presidency to secure a pardon for the Tiger King. But unfortunately, it never came, because Exotic believes he was “too innocent” and “too gay” to get a pardon from Trump.
And he’s still a little salty about. So Exotic is making clear that he would pardon Trump if (when?) he’s elected president – but there are some strings attached:
“I would pardon him but after he spent at least 30 days in the same solitary confignment as any of the rest of us so he knows just how bad it sucks to be innocent and stuck in this fucked up system.
He didn’t pardon me so he is not getting a pardon on day one out of me. Equal Justice is Equal Justice.”
Man, you would think that if anybody would have some sympathy for Trump, it’s a man who, like Trump, believes he was unfairly targeted by his government.
But I guess we all know that Joe Exotic isn’t exactly one to let a grudge go…
