Calm down, boys.
It looks like they’ve done this before. And I swear I saw this down town, just the other week. A couple of big boys, stumblin’ out into the street in the midst of a tussle.
Black bears are big animals in any area they reside in, with adult males weighing up to 600 pounds and measuring up to 6 feet long. Females are smaller, typically weighing up to 400 pounds and measuring up to 5 feet long. They are agile and fast runners, with a top speed of up to 30 miles per hour.
Black bears are also omnivores, which means they eat both plants and animals. They will eat anything they can sink their teeth into from grass to garbage. In areas where food is scarce, black bears will try to prey on larger animals, such as deer or elk. They have a powerful sense of smell, which helps them locate food from a distance.
Black bears are powerful animals, with sharp claws and a bite that will rip right through flesh. They have a strong sense of territory and will defend their home range from other bears or predators. When threatened, black bears can stand on their hind legs to appear larger and more intimidating to their opponent.
Bear fights are a rare but insane occurrence. Black bears fight over territory issues, if young is present, food sources or if they feel like they are in danger. Outside of that, despite their ferocious reputation they really aren’t super aggressive animals.
So, seeing a bear battle really is a treat.
These two are seen going at it in dramatic fashion probably over the rights to a garbage can and its contents.
On a front lawn, two massive black bears go head-to-head. Both are standing up pushing the other. The fight gets more intense and the pair crash out into the street, clawing, biting and roaring at each other.
The intense fight lasts over 6 minutes before one bear decides he’s had enough and makes tracks to find a different garbage can.
What. A. Battle… I’m tired out just watching that fight.
Nature is tough and this just shows it. These animals even have to worry about their own kind out there.
