I feel like the Chiefs and the Eagles players and staff are the only people in America who didn’t watch Rihanna’s halftime show performance.
Of course, the Chiefs clinched the Super Bowl 57 victory and are officially Super Bowl champions as of Sunday evening, but it was Rihanna who made quite a few headlines of her own during the game.
She actually announced her pregnancy at the opening of her medley of hits, as she proceeded to run through bangers like “All of the lights,” “We Found Love,” “Rude Boy,” “Umbrella” and more, just to name a few.
And I’ll be honest, the 13 year old girl in me was loving every minute of it, and I thought she put on an incredible show.
So, suffice to say, it sucks that the players had to miss out on it…
And Chiefs head coach Andy Reid made it clear to his team before the game that they would not be watching any of it, which personally I wouldn’t have ever thought was an option anyways.
Cheifs quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes has been making the rounds doing all sorts of press, as one does after winning the biggest game in sports, and he stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to talk about the whole event and experience, when Jimmy asked him if he got to see the great halftime show:
“I didn’t, but I heard it was great.
Coach Reid told us, he said, ‘If you go out to watch the performance, just keep walking. ‘Cuz you’re not playing the rest of the game.'”
I mean, that seems like a given to me, but I’m sure they hated to miss out on it.
Luckily, it was worth it, as they hoisted the Lombardi trophy at the end of the game… and when Jimmy pressed Patrick on if Rihanna should name her future baby after him now, he says it’s already taken by his infant son, Patrick Lavon Mahomes III:
“My name is taken by my son, Patrick Lavon Mahomes III, so I don’t know if that name is still allowed… so she has to think of another one.”
Jackson Mahomes needs to take some serious “likability” pointers from his big bother, that’s all I’m saying’…
