Your Thursday just got a whole lot better…
On the heels of winning the Grammy Award for Best Country Album this past Sunday, Willie Nelson released the second single from his forthcoming 98th career studio album (his 73rd solo studio album to go along with his 26 collaborative studio albums) I Don’t Know A Thing About Love, which is a cover of Buck Owens’ “I’ve Got A Tiger By The Tail.”
Written by Buck along with Harlan Howard, the song was released in December of 1964, shot to #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles chart, and ultimately became one of Buck’s signature songs with its unique Bakersfield sound.
And the red headed stranger actually put out a great record called A Beautiful Time on his 89th birthday last year, which won the aforementioned Grammy, and it’s safe to say he’s continuing that moement with this new album.
The project will consist of fresh takes of 10 classic songs penned by the legendary American songwriter and aforementioned Harlan Howard, who was an early inspiration of Willie’s, and quite famously defined a great country song as “three chords and the truth.”
Over a six-decade career, Harlan churned out dozens of hits, and was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1973 and, in 1997, was inducted into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
I Don’t Know A Thing About Love is due out everywhere on March 3rd, and you’re gonna want to make sure you check out this new tune while you’re here too…

Wille released the lead single “Busted” a few weeks ago, which was initially a hit for Johnny Cash with the Carter Family in 1963, when it peaked at #13 on the country charts.
