Yellowstone Fans React To News Of Kevin Costner Possibly Leaving The Show

Say it ain’t so…

An an absolute bombshell was dropped on Yellowstone fans this afternoon as news broke that series lead Kevin Costner would be exiting the show, and Matthew McConaughey stepping into his place for a new spinoff series.

What does that mean?

We don’t really know… yet.

According to Deadlinescheduling conflicts have begun between Paramount Network and Costner, with Costner wanting to work less on Yellowstone and more on his own upcoming film, Horizon.

Meanwhile, Paramount is trying to milk this story for everything it’s worth, and who could blame them? It’s the hottest thing on television right now, with multiple spinoffs, prequels, and sequels in the works.

It’s unclear who will be joining McConaughey in the new series once Costner departs (and is presumably killed off), however members of the original cast are expected to be in the new spinoff series.

What is certain is that creator Taylor Sheridan will be writing the story towards the end of Costner and writing its future with McConaughey in mind.

And needless to say, Yellowstone fans are SHOOK, taking to social media to share a wide variety of responses.

‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff Series ‘6666’ Will Officially Premiere On Paramount Network

Paramount Network has officially announced that the new Yellowstone spinoff series, 6666, will be joining the Paramount Network.

It was originally reported that 6666 would only premiere on Paramount+, but it will now air on the network first before the episodes will be available on streaming services. No release date has been announced at this time.

Plans for the new spinoff series were initially revealed back in February of 2021, and it was rumored to star Jimmy (Jefferson White) and Walker (Ryan Bingham). However, no details about the show, other than the fact that it was in the works, have officially been revealed… until now.

The show is based around the 6666 Ranch, or Four Sixes Ranch, which is one of the oldest and largest ranches in the United States.

The official synopsis:

“Founded when Comanches still ruled West Texas, no ranch in America is more steeped in the history of the West than the 6666.

Still operating as it did two centuries before, and encompassing an entire county, the 6666 has inspired a new scripted series where the rule of law and the laws of nature merge in a place where the most dangerous thing one does is the next thing.

The 6666 is synonymous with the merciless endeavor to raise the finest horses and livestock in the world, and ultimately where world-class cowboys are born and made.”

MTV Entertainment Studios will produce along with 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch Productions. Taylor Sheridan will executive produce along with John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Glasser, and Bob Yari.

Of course, a group of investors spearheaded by Taylor Sheridan himself recently purchased the Four Sixes Ranch for a cool $192 million.

It’s happening people… get ready.
