Elle King Releases Fiery New Breakup Tune “Tulsa,” From Forthcoming Album ‘Come Get Your Wife’

Elle King country music

This’ll make you wanna run through a brick wall.

Or maybe even set something on fire, I don’t know…

Elle King just released another single from her first full-length country album Come Get Your Wife, a rousing and bodacious breakup tune called “Tulsa.”

Co-written by Elle along with Ella Langley, Bobby Hamrick and Matt McKinney, the song also features background vocals from the great Ashley McBryde, along with one half of Brothers Osborne, John Osborne, on guitar.

Elle says the song is simply about a no good, two-timing man and calling him out on his shit:

“Tulsa is a song about doing someone wrong. This is not about tearing women down but it’s about putting the blame on the wrongdoer.

If a man is cheating on you, it’s not her fault because there are a million other girls he would do it with. And he’ll just cheat on her too. It’s a song about uniting and not taking shit from this real P.O.S. We wrote the song in less than an hour and it’s so raucous and fun.

We’ve been playing it on the road and it’s the third song in our show now. It’s fun for us and the crowd!”

The lyrics feature some hilariously clever wordplay, where Elle describes that her cheatin’ ex didn’t exactly go back to Tulsa, Oklahoma, as the title suggests…

“He went back to Tulsa
Put some miles on that adios Tacoma
And I ain’t talkin’ Oklahoma
‘Cause it ain’t what you think
But if you spell it back to front you gonna know what I mean”

She previously released three singles in “Worth A Shot (featuring Dierks Bentley),” “Try Jesus” and her #1 duet with Miranda Lambert “Drunk (And I Don’t Want to Go Home).”

I’ve never heard a country song about ripping a slimy ex that I didn’t like, so make sure you give this one a listen:

The new project will feature 12 tracks, seven of which were co-written by King herself, and is due out at the end of this month on January 27th.
